Thirty Days of Thankfulness: Day 23

Thankful for leftovers that make pretty turkey pot pies... Mmmmmm....

Thirty Days of Thanfulness: Day 22

We wrote one thing each night on a rock that we were thankful for and then we went through them and re-read them on Thanksgiving Day....

Thankful to spend the holiday with my family and friends.  And the delicious meal didn't hurt either!

Pumpkin Farm Fun

We made our annual trip to the Pumpkin Farm...again supporting our local Basse's Taste of Country.  We really like it there -- caramel apples, tons of pumpkins, hay rides, corn maze, petting zoo, playground, corn house, corn teepee...you name it!

With two VERY active and busy boys....it was hard snap pictures of them in action. And, because we like to get in on the fun WITH them...sometimes it is hard to remember to take the pictures in the first place, honestly...I'd so much rather be IN the fun making the memories sometimes....

Of course, I managed to snap a few....

And then, because I was feeling all nostalgic,  I took a walk down memory lane...

Our first year at Basse's in 2008 -- Max was just under one year old...

We must've been too busy in 2009 to go to Basse's because our next set of pictures shows up in 2010.  Max is almost 3 and Sam is 6 months.

And then, 2011 -- Max is almost 4 and Sam is one and a half...

And now - 2012 - an almost FIVE year old and a two and a half year old.  Crazy how fast they grow and how fast time goes by!

Man, do I love my two little pumpkins!!!

To the Fair 2012!

Per our annual tradition, we went to the Wisconsin State Fair the first Sunday it was open. Our reason for always choosing this day is because most people are at church first thing on a Sunday morning (so the fair is less busy) and all the animals are there in the beginning of the fair. We really lucked out this year with the weather...after having such a record breaking hot summer, it actually felt cool out! Unfortunately, the fair was also more crowded because lots of people took advantage of the nice weather.

Little max decided he wanted to ride a camel, and since he rarely wants to do something by himself, we forked over the money for a high priced joy ride. 6 dollars to ride around a circle ONE TIME. It was the first of our many expensive fair ventures...

After walking through several of the animal barns, we washed our hands and made our way to the Cream Puff stand!

finger licking good!

we love cream puffs!

do I have anything on my face?

We met up with some friends!!

Then we moved on to the REAL fair food...
nothing says "STATE FAIR" like a FOOT LONG CORN DOG.

Sam had to have a bite....

Max didn't want 'germs' so he bit off the side...

We then made our way up to the Midway -- where all the rides are.  Little Max had informed us all already that the two things he wanted to do at the Fair were to 1) ride a Ferris Wheel and 2) eat cotton candy.

he was so excited once we got on the Ferris Wheel!!

Sam was a little unsure at first...

our view of downtown Milwaukee from the top...

Sam starts to have more fun once he gets the hang of it...

Then we moved on to find the cotton candy...
it was everything he had dreamed of....and MORE!

both the boys SCARFED it down.  They were in HEAVEN.
We made our way through the small animal barn on our way back to the parking lot.  You could tell that, despite all the sugar, Sam was starting to get a little tired....
I'll just take a nap right here, ok daddy?
not even 5 mins into the car ride and Sam zonked out...

Another successful year at the Fair!  At least this year we remembered to wear shoes...

Week 4: Project 366

Jan 22, 2012. Our 'pancake sunday' tradition has unfortunately fallen to the wayside since we moved in September. We tried to revive it this morning with a breakfast at Perkins. Little Max pretty much annihilated his chocolate chip pancakes. Atta boy!

Jan 23, 2012.  The lone yellow flower on the hibiscus plants that are overwintering in our dining room.  A bright pop of sunshine on this otherwise dreary day.

Jan 24, 2012 -- I was lucky enough to get to visit with my Grandma my first night in San Diego!  Had a great time at dinner with her and my Aunt Jacquie!

Jan 25, 2012 - visiting the bonobos at the San Diego Zoo -- the whole reason for being in San Diego in the first place!

Jan 26, 2012 - the air tram ride over lunch sounded like a good idea until we got lost in the zoo and were running to make it back before the meetings started again....

Jan 27, 2012 - I was lucky to get to go out with family two of the nights I was in San Diego.  It was my Uncle Paul's birthday, and he was treated to this wonderful birthday balloon hat.

Jan 28, 2012 - we finally got free time on the last day to tour the San Diego zoo, which was very beautiful.  The elephants (Asian) were very photogenic.
